Over-exfoliation from harsh, chemical scrubs can actually cause the dry, peeling skin you’re trying to combat.
Regular exfoliation is essential in increasing cell turnover and revealing smoother skin. However, most of us are exfoliating way too much and with products far too harsh. Excessive exfoliation can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, flakiness and irritation, as well as make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation leading to inflammation and discomfort. It can also exacerbate existing symptoms for those of use with skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
How to avoid over-exfoliation:
1. Use a gentle exfoliator
